Three baby coyotes arrived at Wildlife West Nature Park in Edgewood this summer and they quickly became a favorite because of their social behavior. A naming contest was held over the last month as a fundraiser for the wildlife zoo. The public selected Chewy, Luna and Dakota as the winning names for the three coyotes, also known as prairie wolves.
This Saturday, November 19th the coyotes will be moved to a larger habitat in the Park. The public is invited to come see them and to learn how to howl with them – an unbelievable experience. Wildlife West is also home to 2 young cougars who came to the Park last spring, along with 20 other species of native, non-releasable wildlife and raptors, including a 500-pound black bear, elk, javelina, hawks, crested caracaras and much more.
