The Lions Club in Edgewood recently donated $1,000 for youth workers to build a wooden cat tree for Wildlife West’s two young cougars.
The Lions Club came forward when Wildlife West rescued two cougars who had been left motherless in the wild. One of the cougars was caught in a trap and suffered a foot injury which was nursed back to health by the New Mexico Wildlife Center in Espanola before coming to the Park.
Funding was also used to expand the habitat, enabling the cougars − True and Zia − to have more room to roam as they grow. The cat tree gives them a structure they can climb, explore and relax as they people watch. It also allows visitors the chance to see these magnificent animals up close. [Read More…]
